Start with the manual
Your tool's manual or label identifies the fastener family and dimensions it accepts. Use that reference when choosing, rather than relying on the product name alone.
Compare the full dimensions
For nails: overall length, shank diameter, collation type, and angle. For staples: crown width, length, and gauge. Compare length, diameter, and crown width in mm. Compare the angle in degrees, and use the gauge designation given in the manual.
Material & finish
When the product details list them, choose the material and finish for what you need to fasten and the conditions where it will be used.
Check the packaging
Check the product details for the number of pieces in the sales package and what it contains before calculating your order.
