Start with your tool manual and the requirements of the job. Before you buy, check the fastener type, dimensions, and how the fasteners are held together. Similar names do not guarantee that a fastener will fit your tool.
1. Identify your tool and fastener type
Find the brand and model on the tool or in its manual. Confirm the fastener family it accepts, such as coil nails, brad nails, pins, or staples. Nailers and staplers do not necessarily use the same fasteners.
2. Compare the complete dimensions
For nails, check the length and diameter or gauge specified for your model. For staples, check the series, leg length, crown width, and gauge where applicable. The series or gauge alone is not enough to establish compatibility.
If dimensions are listed in millimeters and inches, compare both with the manual and remember that conversions can be rounded. If the measurements differ, check the original specifications before ordering.
3. Check the packaging and material
Check how the fasteners are collated and, where applicable, the angle and collation method. Review the quantity included in the box. Choose material and finish according to the instructions for the material being fastened and the conditions of use.
4. Confirm before ordering
If you do not have every detail, share what you have: the tool model, a photo of its label, or the measurements and packaging of the fastener you use. We can help identify what information is still needed before you choose.
